I feel like we’ve all been there, especially if you’re new to
magick. There’s that tiny little voice in the back of your head that scoffs at
you thinking that “this is never going to work.” Or “you’re doing it wrong.” Or
“you look silly.” When I first started I had ALL these thoughts. I thought I
was silly, for walking around my room three times and sprinkling water and salt
that I would just have to vacuum up later.
Stop it.
I normally don’t like to tell other
people what to do because “live and let live” but I’m making an exception to my
self placed rule. Stop doubting yourself right
now.
If you keep on having those negative
thoughts then your magick won’t come to fruition or you won’t get the results
that you want. You need to know that
your magick is going to work because you are just that good.
Even if you don’t know every
correspondence ever you will get
the results that you want, because you are going to command the universe to do
your bidding.
Sounds kinda powerful huh? Well, magick is powerful. Many Pagans
that I know seem to hang onto their Christian backgrounds. I’m not knocking
Christianity at all, but they are two separate practices and when you perform
magick you aren’t going to be asking for anything. You aren’t going to pray and
ask for things to happen because you “might” deserve it.
This isn’t the time for meekness.
When I’m performing spellwork it’s usually because I have a need for something. Know the difference
between need and want. Needing something is stronger than wanting. When I want
something, I save my money so that I can get it. When I need something, I
perform spells.
You are a daughter or son or whatever term you want to use of
the Universe.
You are made of stars.
You are the Universe.
When you’re performing spellwork you are commanding the powers
that be to do your work for you. No, you aren’t commanding Deities or being
disrespectful. The Deities aren’t going to be doing your work for you. You’re
doing the work. You’re commanding the energies to do your work. You are those same
energies and you’re going to be using that power, that extension of yourself to
go forth and to get you what you need.
The easiest way to do this is to come up with a “power saying.”
The most common one I see is “as I will it, so mote it be.”
The problem with that statement is that it seems to be so
commonplace that there’s no oomph behind it anymore. Come up with a new one
that rings true to you. A teacher I had said something along the lines of
“Hearken and hear my words, I am Son of the Universe. Go forth and do my
will!”
This is perfect. Try saying that aloud if you can. Do you feel
how strong it is, especially at the end? THAT is the oomph you need. Try
adapting that saying, or come up with something similar. KNOW that your magick
is going to work. KNOW that you are going to receive all that you need. KNOW
that you are the Universe and that the energies are yours to command.
It is your right. Use it.
Love and Light,
Ristoria.
